A 26-year-old lands a book deal. This wouldn't be huge news, except that the woman involved happens to be Amanda Hocking, who sold over a million copies of her self-published books. Several major publishers lined up, and St. Martin's Press won after bidding rose beyond $2 million for English rights alone. The series will be called Watersong. Hocking explained her decision: "I want to be a writer. I do not want to spend 40 hours a week handling emails, formatting covers, finding editors, etc. Right now, being me is a full-time corporation."...

Uh oh. McKinsey & Co. returns to Conde Nast. Last time the consultants showed up, Gourmet, Cookie, Modern Bride, and Elegant Bride all ended up shuttered. Here's to hoping this latest bloodletting isn't so dramatic... Google, of all places, launches a magazine in the UK called Think Quarterly. The first issue, not surprisingly, is dedicated to data but only appeared in extremely limited numbers... Cooking Light promotes Cindy Hatcher from associate editor to senior editor... Kate Rockwood gets bumped up at Fast Company, moving from staff editor to senior editor...

The Huffington Post is planning to launch a UK edition in the summer. Arianna was educated across the pond, so it only makes sense... The Daily recruits Zach Baron from the Village Voice. Out of the frying pan into the (better-funded) fire?...

Is Glenn Beck getting his own channel? That seems to be the rumor, although he would face a massive number of problems if he went that route. (If Oprah's network is struggling to find viewership, could Beck stand a chance?) Odds are this is a very public negotiation/game of chicken with Fox News brass...

Farrar, Straus and Giroux names Rodrigo Corral creative director. He previously worked in the company's art department from 1996 through 2000. His firm, Rodrigo Corral Design, is responsible for covers including A Million Little Pieces and Decoded... Twitter wants to bring creator and co-founder Jack Dorsey back into the fold as chief product officer. He might even come onboard as CEO, but the current head Dick Costolo will stay on regardless to help the site monetize... Chuck Cordray leaves Hearst Corp. to join Volly as president. His new company bills itself as a "cloud-based digital mail communications platform."... And there are changes at The Glue Network, AkzoNobel and more...
