And your new director general of the BBC is none other than George Entwistle, current director of BBC Vision. (Sorry, were you expecting someone more exciting?) "I'm delighted that the chairman and Trustees have decided I'm the right person for the job, and I'm very excited about all that lies ahead," he said about the job that will pay him well over £450,000 per year, although significantly less than the salary earned by his predecessor Mark Thompson. The Telegraph calls Entwistle, who is a BBC lifer, "unflappable, witty, and up for a beer." The Mail, predictably, reports with outrage the company spent more than £150,000 on headhunters before promoting one of its own...

Yahoo is close to hiring a new CEO. Kara Swisher hears Ross Levinsohn, currently interim CEO, and Hulu CEO Jason Kilar are the two candidates left standing. Each man represents a different future: "It's pretty much a choice between picking a media exec or a product exec," a source tells All Things D. Jonathan Miller was also in the running but declined to be interviewed. Whoever ends up in the position will have his work cut out for him after the Carol Bartz disaster...

The New Inquiry signs on a host of new staffers, including Emily Cooke as literary editor, Elizabeth Greenwood as contributing editor, and Adrian Chen and Erwin Montgomery as associate editors... DNAInfo recruits James Fanelli from the New York Daily News. He'll be a general assignment reporter. The NYDN also loses Alison Gendar to the United Federation of Teachers where she will be deputy press secretary... Mashable hires Annie Colbert as Watercooler editor. Yep, that's a thing...
