The Financial Times plans to eliminate 25 positions through buyouts and, if needed, layoffs. Editor Lionel Barber announced the decision in a Monday afternoon memo, writing, "We need to ensure that we are serving a digital platform first, and a newspaper second." The plan is to save more than $2 million a year through 35 buyouts, then hire 10 staffers on the digital side.
