There are some changes at Conde Nast as Pilar Guzman returns to the magazine giant. The founding editor of Cookie, who had been heading up Martha Stewart Living, takes over Conde Nast Traveler. She replaces Klara Glowczewska. The latter woman had been at CNT since it launched in 1987 and was steering the ship since 2005. In a nice twist to the narrative, Guzman's husband Chris Mitchell served as publisher of Conde Nast Traveler before jumping to GQ in 2011. Eric Pike replaces Guzman at the top of MSL. He has been with the magazine since 1992, rising from associate art director all the way to the top. Not bad. Elsewhere at Conde, Self hires former Rolling Stone publisher Matt Mastrangelo as associate publisher...

The New York Post cancels the freelance contract of V.A. Musetto, the man who dreamed up the headline, 'Headless Body in Topless Bar.' He retired two years ago but had continued doing film reviews. "Dear Vincent, I'm sorry, but because of budget cutbacks we cannot give you any further reviewing assignments. Your review of The Grandmaster next week is your final assignment," film editor Lou Lumenick wrote in an email that Musetto subsequently forwarded to the entire Post staff...

Dennis Publishing's The Week and Mental Floss announce a host of new hires. Storyful's Erica Berger is the new consulting editorial product manager, while Tracy Monahan departs Departures for a spot as marketing director. Conde Nast Media Group's Jamie Altschul takes over as national advertising director for the growing publications, and Thrillist's website content and strategy head Richard Blakeley joins as director of digital products and strategy... Sarah Bruning leaves Time Out New York, where she had been associate features editor, for a features editor role at Natural Health and Fit Pregnancy...

Herb Greenberg leaves his full-time job at CNBC to return to TheStreet.com where he will edit a subscription newsletter called "Herb Greenberg's Reality Check." He will continue to contribute to CNBC... Fusion hires Dan Lieberman as daytime anchor and producer. He had been part of the investigative unit at Nightline...

About 350 Patch staffers lost their jobs today, and the fates of another 150 employees remain uncertain. Prospect Heights Patch editor Amy Sara Clark bade farewell to her readers, writing that despite being laid off, "I believe with all my heart that Patch, with its goal of bringing hyperlocal news back to communities, will survive and thrive."... Dave Daley takes over as editor-in-chief of Salon, replacing Kerry Lauerman who left in June. At the time, Salon CEO Cynthia Jeffers installed Daley as interim EIC... And there are changes at New York, The Economist Group and more...
