Martha Stewart is getting a makeover. Daniel Dienst, the chief executive officer who started at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in October, laid off roughly 100 people. That's about 20 percent of the total workforce. Those out include executive vice president Daniel Taitz, chief revenue officer Joe Lagani, Martha Stewart Living publisher Peter Medwid, vice president of integrated sales Laura Petasnick, head of digital sales Jess Hollander and managing editor Carl Germann. Amid the layoffs, MSLO named Amy Wilkins head of advertising, sales and marketing. There were rumors that Dienst would make a move, but the scope of the cuts are probably more than most people expected. Still, the company needed to do something to boost its languishing stock price and cut costs. Hopefully the dramatic layoffs are enough...

Ann Curry, who has a window in her $12-million contract with NBC, would like to move elsewhere -- and the network would probably like to stop paying her, too -- but she doesn't seem to have too many options. Floaters to CBS News weren't taken, and CNN isn't interested in the former Today host. There's talk that Al Jazeera wanted her at one point, but that appears dead in the water as well... Fox News hires Lea Gabrielle as a general assignment reporter. She had been reporting on the military for KNSD in San Diego... Kait Parker is the Weather Channel's newest on-camera meteorologist... Rachel Maddow gets a column at the Washington Post. The MSNBC host will appear monthly in the opinion section...

Politico national ad director Adam Prather moves to The Hill where he'll be publisher. Current publisher Francine McMahon leaves for PR firm The Capital Image Counsel... The Houston Chronicle names Vernon Loeb managing editor. He had been metro editor at the Washington Post... The National Journal adds Andie Coller as deputy magazine editor and Brendan Sasso as technology correspondent... Brooklyn Rail politics editor Theodore Hamm leaves to focus on his day job as director of the undergraduate journalism and new media program at St. Joseph's College and a currently unnamed writing project...

Nate Silver recruits another big name for his new site, hiring Huffington Post data editor Andrei Scheinkman as deputy editor and director of data and technology... The Week continues to expand its sales team, adding John Guehl, James Alfieri, and Matt Estrada in various positions... VentureBeat promotes Dylan Tweney to editor-in-chief. The former Wired.com staffer had been executive editor at VB since 2011... Patty Alvarez is Money's newest design director. She had been art director there... Pacific Standard promotes Ryan O'Hanlon to senior editor... Baseball America elevates George Shelton to director of advertising... And there are changes at Foreign Policy, Telemundo, and more...
