Ezra Klein and his gang are taking their ball and going to Vox Media, home of The Verge, SB Nation and the Curbed Network. Here's how he described the new venture in his opening post: "The news business... is just a subset of the informing-our-audience business  —  and that's the business we aim to be in. Our mission is to create a site that's as good at explaining the world as it is at reporting on it." The former Wonkblog-er will be hiring a number of reporters and writers to build his next-level encyclopedia. If you'd like a job, apply here. If you'd like a clear-eyed take on what it all means, read Jack Shafer...

MSNBC switches up its daytime programming, giving Ronan Farrow a 1 p.m. show and handing the 2 p.m. time slot to Joy Reid. "I’m confident the changes and additions to our lineup will strengthen the flow of our programming," network president Phil Griffin wrote in a note to staffers... Adam Kushner leaves the National Journal for the Washington Post, where he'll help start a digital magazine venture. He had been executive editor. His departure gives NJ editor-in-chief Tim Grieve a chance to redesign and remake the publication, a role the incoming executive editor will help oversee... On Friday, we mistakenly reported that Slate hired Jeb Lund (@Mobute). We were wrong and we regret the error. Still, we hope Vice picks up his interview with Taylor Swift, talking about the time they got kicked out of Uffizi...

The New York Times hands Jackie Calmes the midterm elections beat. She had been covering the White House since 2010. Meanwhile, the NYT continues to fight notions that it has a brain-drain problem and the impressive list of recent hires would back up that assertion... The New York Post promotes David Brinker to president. He will remain senior vice president and head of corporate/business development at News Corp. The Post also installs Sandra Baez, Ariscielle Novicio-Ablan and Michael Cascio as vice presidents...

Nate Silver's new site has hired 15 "amazing" journalists so far and will continue to look for more... John Maxham moves to DDB as CCO, replacing Ewan Paterson, who left six months ago... Alex Lubar continues his assent up the chain at McCann, taking over the CMO role at the Worldgroup...
