George Stephanopoulos might never leave the ABC News family. The Good Morning America and This Week anchor re-signs to a long-term deal that will see him anchor the network's political coverage as well. "We expect him to remain with us for many, many years. This represents what he wanted – he is committed to GMA and This Week and understands the power of those platforms," an ABC News spokesperson told TVNewser. The deal, which comes a few weeks after ABC News handed James Goldston the president position, is being seen as a huge win for the incoming executive. In other words, smiles all around... Seth Meyers, NBC's newest late-night star, has been tapped to host the 2014 Primetime Emmys, taking place August 25. Meyers previously hosted the 2010 and 2011 ESPY Awards on ESPN, as well as the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner... A month after announcing a $2.6 billion merger with Lin Media, Media General is cutting 45 corporate and shared services jobs. CEO George Mahoney says the cuts are meant to decentralize operations and give greater control at the local level...

Text is dead, at least according to Felix Salmon, who jumps from Reuters to Fusion, the collaboration between ABC and Univision. He'll be senior editor there but what that means is anyone's guess. "I’m not sure how much I’ll write on Fusion’s website, or even whether I’ll write on Fusion’s website," he explained. "There might well be other platforms where it’s easier and more effective for me to reach my audience of wonks, finance people, media people and the like."... Ladies' Home Journal is moving to a quarterly, newsstand-only publication. As a result, the entire current staff is out, with the special interest media group at the company's home base in Iowa handling the new version... Ebony recruits Jet editor-in-chief Mitzi Miller as its new EIC. She had been with Jet since 2011. The publication's managing editor, Wendy Wilson, moves into Miller's role... Joanna Coles poaches Theresa Griggs from Women's Health to be creative director at Cosmopolitan. Meanwhile, recruits Jill Filipovic as a senior writer focusing on politics... Ellen Kampinsky takes over as editor-in-chief at Consumer Reports. She had been senior editor at Newsweek... Popular Mechanics raids another Hearst publication, grabbing Esquire articles editor Ryan D'Agostino as EIC...

The Wall Street Journal hires Christopher Mims as tech columnist. He comes from Quartz, where he had been technology and science editor. WSJ technology editor Jonathan Krim called his newest hire "one of the leading tech writers and commentators in the country."... Janet Lynne Guyon is the new editor-in-chief at Ret. General Michael Hayden lands a columnist gig with The Washington Times. The former director of the CIA and the NSA will write a bi-monthly column called "Inside Intelligence."... And there are changes at Glamour, Muscle & Fitness and more...
