CNN says goodbye to at least 50 positions across its offices in New York, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. The Big Apple's staff was hit the hardest and 28 positions from CNN Digital and CNN Money are gone. According to TVNewser's source, the "changes are related to the integration of television and digital newsgathering and the network is planning on posting several new jobs as early as today. The network’s bottom line head count is not expected to change." Twenty-two positions will be created in CNN Money. This is more of a retrenching than a bloodletting, but it's still not the best news. The network also recently eliminated 16 positions in its Atlanta office... NBC News president Deborah Turness has named Chris Jansing senior White House correspondent. Jansing has been with the network since joining as an MSNBC anchor in 1998...

New Self editor Joyce Chang makes a number of changes, recruiting People StyleWatch executive editor Suzanne D'Amato for the same position. She replaces Isabel Burton, while deputy editor Meaghan Murphy is off to Good Housekeeping. Meanwhile, Cosmopolitan fills the No. 2 spot vacated by Chang with Leslie Yazel, who had been deputy editor at The Wall Street Journal's Personal Journal section... Susan Goldberg steps up to editor-in-chief of National Geographic. She had been executive editor of news and features and replaces Chris Johns, who is now the company's chief content officer. "Our efforts need to be organized around our purpose, not our platforms," CEO and president Gary Knell said of the realignment he's creating... J-14 executive editor Ashley Spencer moves to Us Weekly. She will be staff editor... Emma Span moves to Sports Illustrated as a senior editor with a focus on baseball. She had been senior editor at Sports on Earth...

Bloomberg promotes a host of staffers in the D.C. bureau. Winnie O'Kelley jumps up to executive editor for U.S. government, legal and regulatory stories, while Craig Gordon is the new managing editor of District news and Jonathan Allen is the new bureau chief... The Jersey Journal goes through a round of layoffs, losing three employees in the IT department and one in production... The Hollywood Reporter staff writer Mark Miller is out; however, the reasons for the decision aren't exactly clear...

NBCUniversal snags Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide chief financial officer Visant Prabhu as CFO. Once upon a time, Prabhu worked at The McGraw-Hill Companies, which NBCU executives are touting to show off his media-world experience... Peter Levin, the founder of Nerdish Industries, takes a job as president of interactive ventures and games at Lionsgate.... Jen Cohan takes over as president of Edelman New York. She replaces Russell Dubner, who was recently elevated to president/CEO of Edelman's U.S. operations... And there are changes at INK, nFusion and more...
