TV Guide loses Sandra Lee. She had a one-year contract and while sources expected her to re-up, an agreement could not be reached and she's off to launch her own venture, Simply Living Publishing. It's unclear how much of a role the negotiation tactics of outgoing CEO Jack Kliger played, but at least one person told the New York Post that "Jack was the impediment. They could just not come to terms." A spokeswoman for the company, however, said there was no connection between Kliger leaving to pursue a few entrepreneurial ventures and the breakdown of the talks between TV Guide owner Open Gate Media and Lee's people...

The Associated Press makes a push into investigative journalism, hiring Ronnie Greene and Jeff Horwitz from The Center for Public Integrity and Columbia University, respectively, for the Washington bureau and a host of others around the country. The goal is "to develop investigations around breaking news events across the globe and produce exclusive reports that expose wrongdoing and illuminate social issues."... The Washington Post moves Josh du Lac from the enterprise team to the new general assignment news desk, where he'll be editor. He had been working on local enterprise stories after coming over from the Sacramento Bee in 2005. WaPo, meanwhile, is touting its post-Bezos expansion, which has led to the hiring of 50 journalists in 2014. (But also, yes, lots of departures, too.)... Pippa Middleton loses her Telegraph column. "The readers just weren't into it. There was a lot of negative mail coming in after each column and there were too many off-limit subjects for her. They ran out of ideas," a source said. Ouch...

Larry Wilmore will take over Stephen Colbert's timeslot. Wilmore, currently "senior black correspondent" on The Daily Show, will host The Minority Report. The show launches in January. "While Larry Wilmore is a brilliant comic and showrunner, this is all just a complicated ruse to get him to move to New York and turn him into a Knicks fan," Jon Stewart said in a statement...

Jon Steinberg says goodbye to BuzzFeed, where he had been president and COO. The company's 15th staff member is moving to Lerer Ventures as an advisor. "I'm definitely going to do something exciting," he said... Meredith Shiner joins Yahoo News. She had been at Roll Call, a job she left in March... Jason Kint replaces Pam Horan as CEO of the Online Publishers Association. He had most recently been senior vice president and general manager of, a position he left last summer... John Boehner's press secretary Brendan Buck moves on to AHIP Coverage, where he'll be VP of communications... And there are changes at Money, People Stylewatch and more...
