Lou Cona Named CMO of Condé Nast; HuffPost Launches in India

Condé Nast jettisons chief marketing officer Lou Cona after "many distinguished years of service." Vanity Fair vice president and publisher Edward Menicheschi takes over. "Many of you have worked with Edward during his tenure here and are familiar with his deep understanding of our brands, audiences and advertisers," company president Robert Sauerberg wrote in a note announcing the news. "He will bring his considerable skills and experience to bear as we expand our advertising and marketing influence across all platforms." The new man will continue to push the drive to make money in the digital space. Gina Sanders, who had been president of the Fairchild division Condé sold, will get a yet-to-be determined role inside the larger corporation. Meanwhile, Style.com promotes advertising director Matt Rice to publisher. He'll also take over that role at NowManifest...

James Oseland will leave Saveur, where he has been since 2006. Bonnier Corp., which oversees the foodie bible, is planning to install an editorial director above the EIC. That decision prompted Oseland's departure... Wired poaches Jessi Hempel from Fortune. The BusinessWeek veteran will cover "the business side of technology." Additionally, Mat Honan gets bumped up to senior staff writer... Carl Wilson joins Spin as senior critic. He'll write about many things including, it appears, The Summer of A**...

The Huffington Post will launch a branch in India in November with executive international editor Nicholas Sabloff and international general manager Koda Wang leading the charge while they look for top staffers. Jimmy Soni, the man originally tasked with starting the brand, leaves for reasons no one can quite explain although he will continue in a consulting role... The Daily Meal recruits Whole Living editor-in-chief Alanna Stang to be director of editorial strategy and development...

Chris Jansing will guest host Meet the Press this weekend, filling in for Andrea Mitchell, who was filling in for a fired David Gregory. Chuck Todd starts September 7... Craig Melvin is the new national correspondent for Today. He had been an MSNBC anchor and a reporter for NBC News... Louis Aguirre says goodbye to WSVN, where he's been for more than a decade to move to The Insider. He will be co-anchor and takes over from Kevin Frazier, who is leaving to co-host companion show Entertainment Tonight...

Kim Castro lands a promotion at U.S. News & World Report. She will fill the executive editor of consumer advice role, bouncing up from managing editor for money and health. Additionally, Kim Heneghan comes on as vice president and general manager of money products... David Plouffe steps in as senior vice president of policy and strategy at Uber. He previously served as President Barack Obama's campaign manager and as White House adviser... And there are changes at Fox, CBS Newspath and more...
