Shocker: Premiere Shuttered, Village Voice Out An EIC Again

Jack "The Ripper" Kliger continues to live up to the sobriquet that Fishbowl NY has
given him; yesterday, the CEO of Hachette Filipacchi announced he was closing the U.S. edition of
Premiere, the venerable movie magazine.
Premiere is the third magazine Hachette has closed in the last year (following
ElleGirl and
Shock), although the magazine's Web site will live on. Editor and Hachette editorial director
Peter Herbst is leaving the company, presumably along with the entire editorial staff, while publisher
Paul Turcotte will be slotted into some new role. The only way things could go worse for Hachette ...
