AOL jumps on the road back to portals. The site will partner with three content providers, presumably allowing them to drop some high-priced editorial talent. Fanhouse will turn to Sporting News for the daily churn of the news cycle, while the site's bloggers will still handle some of the opinion side (although up to two dozen will be cut). EveryDayHealth.com will send content to AOL's health section, while Move.com will provide the words for the real estate landing page. Tim Armstrong says the plan is a more profitable way for his site to produce editorial content. Who knows if the new strategy will work, but at least it provides a distraction from the ridiculous catfight brewing between Michael Arrington and Engadget...

Hugo Lindgren continues to make The New York Times Magazine his own, this time telling Virginia Heffernan that her services won't be needed anymore... Paul Jowdy leaves his publishing gig at Bon Appetit for the same job at Details. Glamour vet Pamela Drucker Mann replaces him... Bloomberg LP buys the services of Matthew Miller who put together Forbes' rich lists before quitting in March to launch a research company...

Larry Platt, booted from his editor post of Philadelphia magazine for "inappropriate and unprofessional remarks and jokes," lands at the Philadelphia Daily News. He'll be editor there. Michael Days leaves the position for the managing editor slot at the Philadelphia Inquirer... Joe Nocera could become a full-time op-ed writer at The New York Times leaving his business columnist gig... Jason Reid, the Washington Post's Redskins beat writer and lead blogger, steps into Michael Wilbon's spot as general sports columnist. The Pardon the Interruption host departed for ESPN full-time last year... Mort Zuckerman is planning cuts at the Daily News...

Dick Vitale signs a contract extension through the 2014-2015 season. Awesome baby?... Discovery Communications promotes Eileen O'Neill, Marjorie Kaplan and Henry Schleiff... Hearst Television bumps Jordan Wertlieb up to executive vice president. He had been president and general manager at WBAL...

Facebook loses biz dev vet Alison Rosenthal. She'd been with the company since February 2006 and joins the growing list of early Facebook employees who can attach "former" to their resumes... Living Social expands to nine new cities... Oh weird, The Daily launch is delayed, but only by weeks, not months... And there are changes at PRWeek, Movieline, and more...
