Buchanan Out At MSNBC; King's Split with CNN

Pat Buchanan leaves MSNBC. Or maybe he was fired. He has not appeared on a show in four months because he was out promoting his book, Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025? He calls the move away from the liberal channel a victory for his opponents but refuses to give in to them. "In the 10 years I have been at MSNBC, the network has taken heat for what I have written, and faithfully honored our contract. Yet my four-months' absence from MSNBC and now my departure represent an undeniable victory for the blacklisters," he wrote in a goodbye missive...

Larry King is done at CNN. The late-night host and CNN "mutually agreed" to give up the quarterly specials. King's four staffers will be let go by the network, but may be able to apply for other jobs there. King is rumored to be starting a digital endeavor with Carlos Slim Helú... Sandy Gleysteen joins CBS This Morning as senior producer in Los Angeles. The NBC news veteran had been working as an independent producer...

Forbes Media loses president Kevin Gentzel. Meredith Levien takes over while Mark Howard takes on the duties of senior vice president of digital ad strategy... Philadelphia Media Network Inc., which owns the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com, plans to cut 37 jobs in the newsroom. The company will start by asking for buyouts... Ethan Bronner leaves his gig as The New York Times Jerusalem bureau chief for a job stateside. He'll be a legal affairs reporter on the National desk. Current education editor Jodi Rudoren replaces him... Kitty Morgan moves from Better Homes and Gardens to Sunset, where she'll be editor-in-chief... Marc Ambinder joins GQ as contributing editor...

Big news in the sports journalism world. Bob Ryan will leave his full-time job at the Boston Globe after the London Olympics. He cites the increasing pace of the business (read: Twitter and the rest of the Internet) as a major reason in his decision. Smart money says he continues to pop up on ESPN's slate of shows. Elsewhere at The Worldwide Leader, Ron Jaworski is out of the Monday Night Football booth. He will remain with the network...

Timothy Potts is the new director for the J. Paul Getty Museum. He had been in the same position at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, England... Jerome Austria takes over as EVP and group creative director on the Volkswagen account at Deutsch LA... Ahmad Childress is the editorial director of Machinima...
