Background: San Antonio Magazine was launched in 2005 as a general lifestyle publication for residents of the seventh largest city in the United States. From cover stories with the city's notable personalities to the best new restaurants on San Antonio's famed Riverwalk, it's all found here.
In the last seven years, the magazine has undergone several changes, most notably in summer 2011 when the book was purchased by Open Sky Media. San Antonio went through a huge overhaul, relaunching with a new logo and fresh content that primes that magazine for future success. "We consider ourselves the premier city magazine for San Antonio," said Rebecca Fontenot, editor-in-chief.
San Antonio aims to be readers' "inside key" to the city. "We want to tell them stories they don't know and introduce them to people they don't know, but should," Fontenot said. And, though San Antonio's average reader is affluent, Fontenot casts her net toward a larger audience. "We're trying to reach people who are active in the community, as well as younger people who are growing in their careers and trying to find their place in the city."
