An interesting subplot in the next round of Time Inc. cost-cutting developed
yesterday when Fast Company named Bob Safian its new
editor-in-chief and managing director. Safian, executive editor and No. 3 editor
at Fortune, had previously held the same title at Time, and
before that had been managing editor of Money for most his 30s. But
that was before Time Inc. editor-in-chief John Huey decided
that Money needed to be blown up, leading him to replace Safian with
current M.E. Eric Schurenberg, who set out to reinvent the
title. Safian, a now-tarnished golden boy ...
