March 23, 2007 Mary Berner is determined to put her old Fairchild band back together at Reader's Digest, and is making waves at both her past and present employers in the process. The latest former lieutenant to join her is Alyce Alston, the former publisher of W who left the business a while back to become U.S. CEO of DeBeers.
