Background: Relish, a monthly newspaper-distributed magazine, launched in 2006 to celebrates America's love of food. The magazine brings readers useful cooking tips, delicious recipes and new products for the kitchen. "[We're a magazine for] anyone who likes food and cooks," says editor-in-chief Jill Melton. Since the magazine is distributed through the paper, it has a wide audience. According to its website, Relish is always lively, festive and fun without ever sacrificing authority. The pub also recently launched a tablet edition on the iPad and a mobile app.
Relish was in a league of its own for some time, until DASH, a Parade publication, launched. "I would say we're smarter," says Melton. "Our goal is to get readers back in the kitchen, because the more you cook, the more you can eat. We're a food magazine about people -- their celebrations, traditions and stories with regards to food."
