YOUR ROTTENEST STORIES AND FINEST WHINES

The ineptitude of one's editor is fodder for many a funny story, but we couldn't resist this one about an editor who followed up a story lead in The Onion...

-------

This week's Bitch Box:

I work for a national weekly trade magazine dealing with radiation therapy, so cancer is a big issue for us and covered often. When I saw an article in the fake newspaper The Onion announcing, "March Named Breast Cancer Obliviousness Month," I thought it was funny and sent a link to my co-workers and boss. Not only did my boss not get the joke, she wrote me this e-mail:

Do you know if this new story is for real? I can't find the Breast Cancer Obl. Foundation [mentioned in the article] anywhere. I've seen stuff from The Onion website before, but I'm not sure how worthy the news is. Any ideas?

This is a woman who is constantly bragging about her 15 years experience in medical journalism!

Keep bitching
For the next installment of the Bitch Box, dear readers, we're asking you to share the funniest, most delicious quotes that never made it into your story. Send your rants to bitchbox@mediabistro.com. (What is the Bitch Box?)
