ABC’s London Bureau Will Lay Off At Least 20
Via TVNewser: The staff at ABC’s London bureau were called into a meeting to discuss the future of the company, where ABC News SVP Kate O’Brian told staffers that the company’s beginning a “consultation process.” This consultation period is required by U.K. labor law when a company is planning to let go 20 or more workers; TVNewser reports that a tipster says that’s the number—about 30% of the entire bureau—whose jobs are on the line.
The London bureau downsizing is part of a larger series of cuts at ABC. A spokesperson told TVNewser: “This is an effort we have already undertaken in all our domestic bureaus as well as ABC News headquarters in New York.”
