CW Still Seeking Leader
The CW is actively searching for a replacement for entertainment chief Dawn Ostroff, who is leaving her post later this spring, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the hunt is “intensifying.”
A number of names have been floated for the position: Warner Horizon’s Craig Erwich, Kate Juergens of ABC Family, Susanne Daniels (formerly head of Lifetime) and Jeff Gaspin formerly of NBC have been named as possibilities (though THR’s sources say Gaspin isn’t being considered anymore).
The leading two names, however, are JoAnn Alfano, former head of development at Lifetime, and Andrea Wong, coincidentally Alfano’s former boss. Both Alfano and Wong’s names have been mentioned in conjunction with the open exec position at E!, so we’ll see if this turns into a Thunderdome scenario.
As THR notes, whoever takes the role will need to be ready for a challenge: the CW is predicted to lose $57 million in 2011. Plus, the exec reports to four bosses: Leslie Moonves and Nancy Tellem at CBS, and Barry Meyer and Bruce Rosenblum at WB.
