In Case You Hadn’t Heard…

Keith Olbermann is officially Current TV’s “Chief News Officer” as of 11am this morning.

He will also host a daily one-hour program for the channel, beginning sometime in the spring.

According to the New York Times, he will be given an equity stake in the “low-rated cable channel” (ouch!) and an “independent platform and freedom.”

According to Current’s new Keith Olbermann website, his “verbal pyrotechnics and moral passion have outraged, informed, and dazzled viewers of “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” for the past eight years.”

Before the announcement, Current was mostly known for the 2009 incident when two of its journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, were detained in North Korea while reporting near the country’s border.

Sadly, yogurt has little to do with Olbermann, though thanks to us, “Olbermann yogurt” is no longer a Googlewhack.
