Last Thursday CEO Chuck Townsend issued a company wide e-mail, as seen here at MediaMemo, warning that “we have to make additional difficult decisions to manage costs and ensure our financial well-being.”

While personnel cuts were not specifically addressed in this missive, warning bells are ringing through out the industry and scoopers, like mediaisdying, are stirring up gossip stew issuing requests for inside information.

While the future does not look all sunshine and happiness for Conde Nast right now, no cuts have been officially made or announced in any department, so everyone can stop gnashing their teeth. We’ll let you know when news changes.
