Kalmbach Publishing Buys Discover

discovermagazine.jpgDiscover magazine has been sold to Kalmbach Publishing, minonline reported today.

Kalmbach, which owns a stable of 16 enthusiast properties including Astronomy, will keep “key” staff members like editor-in-chief Corey Powell, though publisher CEO Henry Donahue will leave following the transition.

Discover has been on the block since May.

Discover Discovers It’s Still Wanted

Discover_0_1.jpgGood news for the employees of Discover magazine, which is for sale.

According to CEO Henry Donahue speaking to Folio:, at least ten bidders have made first-round offers for the publication, and that a deal will close by the end of the summer.

Donahue also told Folio: that the bids have been at “the higher end of our expectation range.”
