Francesco Fragomeni and Chris Limbrick, two Squarespace employees, have two rules posted on their Instagram account, FoolsDoArt.

It sounds like it’s going to look very similar like the Facebook as we know it today with its groups and constant newsfeed. And while it sounds like it’s set to compete with LinkedIn, Microsoft Office and Google Drive, it’s going to look slightly different from Mark Zuckerberg’s site. Veteran & Pinterest Executive Don Faul Talks Leadership at ‘Got Your 6′

What better way to celebrate veterans during today’s holiday than hear their stories and salute their bravery?

Last week we attended an empowering Got Your 6 event at HBO’s office in midtown Manhattan. In the military, “Got your six” means “I’ve got your back.” The initiative helps squash negative misconceptions and myths to civilians about veterans in terms of who they are and what they have to offer. As for veterans, the program ensures they’re empowered to lead by connecting to various veteran organizations.

The storytellers event had a TED talk flair as each veteran took the stage to talk about their career and lessons learned in their own unique delivery.

Let’s take a look at U.S. Marine Corps veteran Don Faul’s talk focusing on leadership in the Silicon Valley. After all, he knows a thing or two about the topic. Faul’s the head of operations at Pinterest and previously worked at Facebook and Google.

NPR Issues Social Media Reminder to Employees on Election Day

While many HR policies now include a social media one, it’s a powerful reminder that whatever you tweet or post will look like it’s essentially coming from your news outlet.

Pilot Passes Sobriety Test; Airline Grounds Passenger for Tweeting

airplaneWe’ve heard about employers slapping the wrist on employees for scribing questionable tweets but in a recent case, an airline sent a passenger packing when she tweeted about one of its employees. Namely, the pilot.

According to AOL Jobs, a passenger says she was removed from a JetBlue flight after sending a tweet. Not just any ol’ tweet — it was about a pilot’s sobriety test.

Here’s the deal: Lisa Carter-Knight from Pennsylvania was waiting to board her flight in Philadelphia. During that time, the airline mentioned it was delayed due to a unique set of circumstances. That is, the pilot believed another passenger actually accused him of being drunk. Read more

Why Mashable’s Lauren Drell Said Yes to a Role She Wasn’t Expecting

Lauren-Drell-ArticleWhen Lauren Drell interviewed for a job at Mashable in 2009, it was for a completely different department than the one she ended up in:

I thought it was a cool, scrappy startup company, so I applied for a copy editor job. I have a typo blog, so the thought of fixing typos all day was very appealing to me. Sharon Feder, who at the time was managing editor, said, ‘We want to hire you but have another role for you in mind in a department called supported content. It’s still editorial, but you’d have the opportunity to do more video and work with brands on some creative campaigns.’

I thought about it for a little bit and decided, ‘Let’s do this.’

It was Drell’s journalism experience that led her to apply for the copy editor position, but it was a different kind of training that led Mashable to offer Drell the sponsored-content position. Her social media work for a restaurant made her fluent in emerging and established social platforms, and a perfect fit for the department. It’s also a reminder of how developing a diverse set of skills can take you places you don’t expect.
