Karen Magee has been named executive vice president, chief human resources officer at Time Warner Inc. In her role effective January 1, 2014,

Magee will be responsible for the company’s human resources strategy encompassing global compensation, benefits, global organizational and leadership development, worldwide recruitment and executive search, and diversity.

Per the press release, Time Warner Inc. chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes stated:

“Over the last several years Karen has provided results-oriented leadership in human resources, working with our top executives across the business units to better define, measure and achieve success.  Karen’s efforts have helped to create a workplace environment that attracts and motivates high-caliber talent, which in turn enables us to develop and distribute great television, film and journalism content that is valued by audiences worldwide.”

Magee rejoined Time Warner in 2010 as senior vice president, administration, shared services by spearheading the company’s enterprise service initiative.

From 2006 until 2009, she worked for PlanetOut Inc. as the chief executive officer. Prior to that role, starting in 2004 she worked at Time Warner as the senior vice president of strategic planning by overseeing Time Warner’s strategic planning group. Magee took on that role having moved from Time Inc. as the senior vice president of strategic planning.

Going back even further, that role in strategic planning was the next step after moving on from TIME as the first general manager and vice president of consumer marketing. She also held the title of general manager of Time Inc. Ventures, director of finance for Time Inc., general manager of Time Inc.’s corporate sales and marketing division and business manager of People.

Prior to those roles, the Princeton University alum held a job as an analyst in corporate finance. She began her career in management information systems for Esquire.
