Playboy Considers Sale; Cuts Rumored At Hearst Magazines
February 20, 2009
The rumor mill's already working overtime today, as we're hearing Hearst has cut staff at Good Housekeeping and is readying itself to cut long-time freelance, or "permalance" positions, company-wide. In other potential developments, Playboy could be for sale: In a conference call announcing the mag's fourth quarter and full-year financial results, the company's interim CEO Jerome Kernreported a loss of $156.1 million in 2008 and said he is "open to discussions" about a possible sale.
