Background: When New England Monthly folded in 1990, a group of the magazine's staffers decided to launch a new pub that focused on an issue much closer to their personal lives. With young children at home, they knew firsthand the challenges that parents face to keep their kids happily (and constructively) entertained.
"They were looking for ways to make the most of their time with their kids, and they didn't see a magazine that really addressed that," said Debra Immergut, senior editor of FamilyFun. And, in the 21 years that FamilyFun has been in existence, speaking primarily to readers with children between the ages of three and 13, the publication has remained true to that vision.
