Adobe Illustrator is the key software used by professionals in the advertising and creative industries -- but it’s not just for designers. Copywriters and editors need to know how to develop sample ads and graphics without relying on an art department.

This class will show you how to use the essential toolsets to work with type and images and create powerful graphics that will resonate with an audience.

In this class, you will learn how to:
  • Use the Illustrator toolbars and frequently used windows
  • Work with basic typography to communicate a message
  • Understand the fundamentals of ad layout
  • Begin to build an ad portfolio
By the end of class, you will have:
A sample ad to include in your portfolio and hands-on training in the fundamentals of Illustrator.

Note: You will need Adobe Illustrator to complete assignments. You can download a free 30-day trial at adobe.com. Email us with questions.

The online classroom has several components:
  • Lessons: Learn new skills through video-based lessons
  • Discussions: Join a weekly live, interactive discussion via IM and video
  • Assignments: Complete homework and receive instructor feedback
  • Forums: Exchange resources, meet peers, and ask your instructor questions
