Learn how to create video projects in Final Cut Pro X, the newest version of Final Cut Pro, a powerful tool for professional video editing. Whether you're entirely new to video editing or looking to navigate the most recent changes to the software, you'll leave class with an understanding of how to edit compelling video using Final Cut Pro X. 

In this class, you will learn how to:
  • Create and manage projects and media
  • Edit video and audio using the magnetic timeline
  • Use the precision editor to fine tune edits
  • Add transitions, titles and effects.
  • Finish and create your final edited output
By the end of class you will have:
The ability to edit and encode video using Final Cut Pro X and Quicktime. 
 
Note: Students need to have access to Final Cut Pro X software to complete the weekly assignments. All class discussions will demo Final Cut Pro X.
 
The online classroom has several components:
  • Lessons: Learn new skills through video-based lessons
  • Discussions: Join a weekly live, interactive discussion via IM and video
  • Assignments: Complete homework and receive instructor feedback
  • Forums: Exchange resources, meet peers, and ask your instructor questions

Karen Nourse
Karen Nourse teaches in the graduate MFA program at Parsons: The New School for Design. She received great praise and four awards for her entry into the 48 Hour Film Festival in NYC in June 2009, where she won Best Directing, Best Editing, Best Musical Composition, and Best Supporting Actor for her film The Gift. She and her partner Zachary won the WNYC Radio Soundcheck Music Video contest for the video she produced for The Fiery Furnaces song The End is Near.
