Learn to navigate the strategic and practical tasks of the product manager. We’ll focus on communicating across teams to understand user needs, lead tech improvements, and measure the way your customers interact with your product. This class is part product immersion and part tutorial in how to work effectively with a group of designers and developers. We’ll make sure you know how to establish priorities, balance expectations, and promote your strategic vision with business, design, tech, marketing, and executive teams.

 
In this class, you will learn how to:
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a product manager
  • Oversee new product development from conception to execution
  • Create and prioritize requirements, user stories, use cases, and product management documents
  • Consider user experience and design elements as a component of strategy
  • Collect feedback and implement improvements based on analytics, beta and A/B testing, and focus groups
  • Manage an existing product

By the end of class, you will have:
Hands-on experience creating product management documents and an understanding of best practices used to manage new or existing digital products.

The online classroom has several components:
  • Lessons: Learn new skills through video-based lessons
  • Discussion: Join a weekly live, interactive discussion via IM and video
  • Assignments: Complete homework and receive instructor feedback
  • Forums: Exchange resources, meet peers, and ask your instructor questions
