Building an online presence is one of the smartest things you can do for your career. It shows you’re up to speed with both the latest technology and digital media, and allows you to make connections with people in your industry who may be able to offer you new opportunities.

In this one-hour webcast, Sloane Barbour, managing drector of Jobspring and a former recruiter, will teach you how to use Twitter and LinkedIn to build professional networks and employ a version of online cold-calling to connect with recruiters, employers, and peers. The session will also cover the dos and don'ts of using Facebook, Google+, Quora, and other online tools in your career development.

You'll learn how to:

  • Reach out to recruiters and potential employers via Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Use Facebook, Google+, Quora, and other social media sites for outreach and networking
  • Organize your social profiles so they are informative and searchable
  • Find and research "hidden" jobs through social media
How this works:
  • You'll participate in a live video discussion with an expert speaker who will provide insights, case studies, and real-world examples of strategies that have worked
  • You'll have the chance to ask questions and get advice from the speaker in real time
  • You'll receive a copy of the speaker's presentation slides and access to a recording of the presentation
  • If you can't make it to the live presentation, you can watch the recording for one week after the live broadcast
